처음 이 노래를 유투브(Youtube)에서 접했을 때 그냥 넘겼었다.

소위 매직 Magic이라는 듣보잡(?) 밴드 노래 Rude를 지나쳤던 것이다.

 

 

그러다 우연히 Pop song 트랙 모음집이 있는데

거기서 다시 한 번 마주친 매직 Magic - Rude 뮤직비디오

이번엔 들어보았다.

뮤직비디오 자체는 미국 시트콤 'How i met your mother'에서

캐나다의 시대에 늦은 영상미를 장난식으로 안좋게 말하듯이 그냥 나쁘지 않았다.

 

오히려 자꾸 보니 괜찮은 것 같기도 :P

처음엔 뮤직비디오를 안보고 노래만 들었어서

Why you gotta be so rude? 라는 가사에

대체 누구보고 'rude' 무례하다고 자꾸 그러는지...

사실 짐작은 했지만 설마설마 했었다.

 

 

뮤직비디오를 보니 모든 가사의 내용과 내 짐작이 일치하는 순간

문화 충격마저 느꼈다.

 

한국인 중에서 누가 장인어른될 분(사람)에게

자신을 무시하며 결혼을 허락해 주지 않는다하여 대놓고 무례하다고 말할 수 있을까... ^^;

(물론, 해외의 경우에도 쉽지 않을 거라 생각하지만)

 

 

아직까지 결혼은 이른 나이지만

'만약 내가 저 상황이라면 어떻게 할까?'라는 생각도 해보았다.

이 노래를 들을 때마다 뭔가... 그 뭔가가 느껴졌는데

오늘 이 밴드에 대해 알아보면서 내가 느꼈던 그 뭔가를 설명할 수 있는 단어를 찾았다.

 

레게... Reggae가 바로 내가 이 노래를 들을 때 느꼈던 그 무엇이었다.

 

레게풍의 노래를 잘 안 듣는 나로서 생소한 리듬이었지만

귀와 몸에 착 감기면서

나도 모르는 새에 따라부르며 리듬을 타는 나를 발견하게 된다.

레게 음악과 다른 장르의 음악을 섞어 자신들 만의 노래를 선보인다고 한다.

 

 

또 다른 좋은 노래로 만나고 싶은 밴드이다.
